Whole Lotta Readin' Going On

I don't know about you, but I'm planning to read this summer. A lot. I've got a stack of the 2011-2012 Gateway Nominees waiting on me (I've made a small dent in them) as well as some just for fun mysteries, a couple new titles by favorite authors, and a few other recommended young adult titles. I'm up to my chin in books and I'm loving it!

This school year I read in bursts. I'd get on a real book kick and gorge myself on stories. Then, I'd hit a busy season and forget when was the last time I picked up something to read. I imagine it was the same for you? Still, if you're hoping to read over the summer (and I'm hoping you are), here are some books I read this year that you might want to try (in no special order):

Three-Quarters Dead by Richard Peck
Ghosts, roller skates, night clubs, and Prom

The Gardener by S. A. Bodeen (author of The Compound)
Growing humans?

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly
French Revolution meets angst-ridden Andi in the Paris Underground

Rose Sees Red by Cecil Castelluci
1980's one night on the town with the Russian neighbor

The Queen's Daughter by Susan Coventry
Love, duty and rebellion during the Crusades

If I Stay by Gayle Foreman
One of the Gateway nominees - grab your tissues

Hate List by Jennifer Brown
Anoher Gateway nominee

Although I haven't yet finished it, currently I'm reading Scrawl by Mark Shulman and am really enjoying it.

What books are waiting for you to finish your finals?
